Hanging Out at the Fremont Solstice Parade

Fremont Solstice Parade

We had an eventful Saturday, starting off with a trek to Fremont with Del’s Aunt Becky and friends to see the one-and-only Fremont Soltice Parade, complete with home-made float, clowns, naked bicyclists and more. Del had a front row seat for the action, but didn’t see all that interested.

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother's Day

Delton, with the help of his day care provider Julie, put together this wonderful gift for Dianne for her first “official” Mother’s Day. We both got a bit misty eyed over it, and we’re still stumped as to how Julie got him to sit still enough to make such good impressions!

Del’s First Baseball Game

Big Smile

We took Del to his first Mariners game today, on a lovely 65 degree Sunday afternoon here in Seattle. The M’s were hosting the Oakland Athletics and Seattle’s ace, Felix Hernandez, was pitching. Even more exciting, it was part of Boeing Kids Weekend at Safeco Field, and they were giving away Felix Hernandez kids’ jerseys (though I think Dianne’s going to keep that one for herself, as Del probably won’t fit into it for a few more years and it’s the perfect size for her).

The Boy’s already got plenty of Mariners’ swag, though, as he was outfitted in his Kenji Johjima (Seattle’s star Japanese catcher) t-shirt/jersey and Mariners cap. We decided to pass on his M’s hoodie though, because we figured that’d be overkill!

He seemed to really enjoy the sights and sounds, as his only other exposure to baseball has been via television. It was a pretty good sized crowd (37,000), but it wasn’t overly crowded, particularly in the Terrace Club area where our seats are. That section is also nice for bringing Del, as we’ve got access to less crowded restrooms for changing him, and a nice, heated indoor lounge area if the game’s a bit chilly or things get too loud in the stands for him.

Other than getting a bit cranky in the late innings (we’re not sure if that was the result of Del needing a nap or the Mariners managing to blow a lead and lose the game), he was in a great mood throughout and seemed to really enjoy himself!

Ready to Go!

We don’t really have any specific comment for this one, but Del’s looking so adorable, this really needed to be posted.
